right now: the rush of spring

Right now, it’s all about:

red and purple anemones, yellow chicks, speckled chicks, young parsley and dill bursting through the soil,

rose bushes climbing over the fence, sharing sage plants with neighbors and family,

fresh picked lettuce, apple blossoms just about to bloom, rhubarb uncurling in front of the house, lightness stretching out its arms ever earlier and later into the day

and finally,

painfully, giving away old books, saying goodbye to the dreams, memories and emotions stored up in their pages and making room for new ones,

seeing clearly the life being lived right now.
